So, you know I’m always experimenting, and looking for the best way to be useful. If I don’t feel like it’s working, I pivot quickly rather than flog a dead horse.
Newsletters are an essential part of a content business, but they have to be useful, interesting, and aligned with the work.
I love sharing productivity hacks, but trying to come up with a new one on top of my 6-a-week podcasting habit is a bit of a stretch, and I don’t want to poop something out only to justify having your email address.
And that’s where I’m foundering a bit. So what I’m offering is a little casual voyeurism at my expense. Don’t pretend you’re not interested. 😉
Do you want to know what it takes to build a content business? That includes building an audience from near-scratch, with content doing more than providing marketing leverage?
I ask, because my goal is for Morning Creative to provide a living wage by the end of 2024. That is the definition of a big hairy goal. And I’d like to share the steps I’m taking towards that goal with you, in real time. I’ll share what I’m doing, thinking, feeling, what experiments I’m undertaking, and if/how those are moving the needle.
I won’t share specific numbers in this newsletter. For that, you’re welcome to signup to my Backstage membership, where I’ll share the actual numbers, and – maybe more interestingly – how they make me feel.
It’s only a fiver a month, and doesn’t come with a Mighty Networks or a WhatsApp group. And incidentally, if everyone reading this email signed up, that would free me up significantly. Just sayin’. 😉
So that’s the plan. Weekly updates on what I’m doing to move closer to a sustainable content-driven business… or to put it another way, making a living from being me. I did something similar with a product business that I sold in 2021. Can I do it with my words and my personality, rather than my code? I guess you’ll have to stay subscribed to find out.
