My "tight five" is a slightly flabby six

My "tight five" is a slightly flabby six

On Monday night I performed my first ever piece of standup comedy, in front of around 70 people in a pub in Kings Heath.

It was part of a showcase of acts that were developing under an eight-week standup course.

I started the course not sure I wanted to do the showcase. A few weeks in and I had my first draft of an act, which didn't quite set the room ablaze. But by working on it and working on it and avoiding working on it and then working on it again, I managed to end up with a five minute set (plus injury time) I could probably expand into an open mic 10 minuter if I wanted to.

I don't know if I want to do that to my nervous system again. Although, as I'm discovering, I'm really not the ball of nerves I used to be. Age and practice will do that to you, I suspect.

Anyway, I did it. It wasn't exactly ya bucket-list item to be ticked off, but I'm certainly glad I did it. And who knows? Maybe there's more to come.

Probably not, though.
